It’s no secret that everyone loves golden hour photos. Certainly, it can make for some gorgeous photos, but check out this afternoon newborn session. Lighting can make a big difference in your photos. I just love how the afternoon light kept this session bright and warm. All the new baby snuggles in the warm sun are precious.
When we started planning this photo session, Mom really wanted to choose a special location. Welcoming a new baby into the family is a big transition, and she wanted to document this time at a place with sentimental value. I love when clients have a clear idea about their location or the look of their photos. And I am especially in favor of choosing a location that is important to your family. When you look back on the photos, it will make those memories that much more special.
Before their new daughter arrived, Mom used to take her son to the Hermitage Museum in Norfolk to walk around. It is a peaceful place that makes a beautiful backdrop. The memories it holds made it just right for their celebration of welcoming their newest addition to the family. As always, we kept things as slow and comfortable as necessary for Mom and baby. Our session focused on the bond between Mom and her children.
The afternoon sun gave the photos great warmth and visual interest. The shots with the sun shining on the family from behind are beautiful. There isn’t a wrong time of day for photos, but after this afternoon newborn session, I am really loving the warmth late in the day before golden hour.
If you are planning to welcome a new baby to the family soon, and you want to explore an outdoor newborn session, I’d love to connect with you. Reach out, and let’s get something scheduled!
