Does the thought of choosing outfits for your family photo session feel overwhelming? Let me help you ease the stress and give you tips for making outfit selection worry free.
Here’s the biggest tip: Moms, pick your outfit first. You’re often busy thinking about everyone else, but this is the time to think about yourself first. I promise the rest will come together when your outfit is the anchor for everything else. Choose something comfortable because you will look and feel your best in something that you aren’t tugging at all day or worrying about.
Next, we’ll focus on everyone else’s clothing. Aim to coordinate their outfits. The goal isn’t to be overly matchy matchy because you don’t want to look like one solid color. Remember that the more comfortable everyone is, the more relaxed they will be during your photo session. That’s what we’re going for!
Choose colors that go well with your home. You don’t have to match the walls, but you want to be complementary. Neutrals are always a winner if you are unsure of what direction to go. They also make it easy to keep outfits coordinated without everyone wearing the exact same thing.
When choosing clothing, look for different textures and consider adding layers. This is visually appealing and will make your pictures that much better. You don’t have to overdo it or make sure every person is layered up in different textures. Choose a few different textures or layers, and you’ll be set!
I am also always available as a resource for you! If you are unsure where to start or you just need some feedback about your outfit selection, I would love to help with your styling! I want you to look and feel your best so we can spend our time together capturing the special bond your family shares. I can’t wait to document all the moments with you and your children!
