WHAT THE PROCESS LOOKS LIKE:

Experience

The experience I want you to have comes down to one word, easy. From the moment you reach out until after your session I want it to be easy for you. Getting yourself (and other people) ready is the hard part. When you arrive to your session it’s normal to be nervous and not know what to expect. If you’re worried about what to do with your hands, what direction to look, or that your kids won’t sit still, I’m here for you. I direct and prompt you, but for the most part I let things happen naturally.

FREQUENTLY
asked
QUESTIONS

A: For newborn sessions: 1-2 weeks after baby is born. At this point they still sleep a lot
and their little features change quickly.

For maternity: anywhere between 25-35 weeks is ideal.

For couples & families: anytime! unless there is a special event you are wanting documented,
such as a proposal.

These are all guidelines to help with your planning, but please know I’m willing to shoot outside of these timeframes. I want you to have pictures of these special moments regardless if you think it’s too late!

A: My passion lies in the connection between people and the details of features or expressions that can often be missed.

Therefore, I really haven’t narrowed down to, “I only shoot families,” or “I only shoot newborns.” I love the creative challenge of different people, lighting, and connections.

A: I never got this concept until I became a mother, but I want moms to have more pictures of just them and their children. Mothers are often the ones behind the camera, living in the moments but never having anything physical to cherish.

I want moms to have photos where they feel beautiful and happy. Where they don’t have to worry about unflattering angles or asking for the photo and then forcing a smile. Even though what they really wanted was an in action shot of them tickling their laughing baby. Motherhood sessions are designed to give you that opportunity.

Will it be a little stressful getting yourself and the kids ready? absolutely. They will probably cry & run around, don’t worry about it. motherhood sessions are meant to give you an opportunity to be in front of the camera for once.

A: I got you! We talk about this during the planning of your session. I pay for an interactive styling service which helps take some of the stress of picking out outfits. You can purchase directly from the program or use it as inspo.

I want you to feel beautiful, and when you’re comfortable in your clothes that shows in photos. I’m not trying to change who you are or your style, but if you are investing time and money into photos, don’t you want to feel your absolute best

When we first had family photos taken our photographer asked if she could help me with my outfit. I told her, nah I got this. We showed up to the shoot and my dress was stiff and uncomfortable. While she did an amazing job, I didn’t love myself in the photos because I looked uncomfortable. The next time we booked a session with her I gave her full control. She picked out a dress I never would have seen myself in. I trusted her and I loved the photos! The dress had movement, worked great with the background and made me feel beautiful.

A: Virginia! Specifically, the Hampton Roads area. Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk.

A: Both! You have the option of choosing an indoor session or an outdoor session. I can help you decide if you don't have a preference.

Many people think their house is too messy to have an indoor session. I'm here to tell you it's not. I get it, I'm guilty of clearing dirty dishes and laundry out of the way to get shots of my kids. We can get a lot of beautiful photos with a few windows that have good light. in-home sessions are an awesome way to showcase your personality or document the home you brought your baby home to.

maybe you want to document your family just being themselves, or you're a couple who wants to get some shots cuddling on the couch or making dinner in the kitchen.

There's a lot of potential for indoor sessions.

A: Not at the moment. I don’t feel like I can get you the best quality photos with the amount of time mini sessions are.

Some of the best photos come at the end when you are most comfortable and 15 minutes isn’t long enough for me to build that connection with you.
